Since arriving in Grand County 20 years ago, Shanna Ganne has witnessed first-hand the hope and hustle of trying to provide for a family in our rapidly changing community. Moving to Grand County in 2004, Shanna Ganne has faced many of the challenges people across our community have experienced over the past two decades. As a nonprofit professional, engaged citizen and mother of two, Shanna has overcome adversity and grown into one of the most dedicated and selfless leaders in our community.
Since 2018, Shanna has served as executive director for the Grand County Historical Association where she supports four museums and has preserved some of the most valued structures in our community. Understanding state and federal programs, she has secured grants and funding to preserve our unique culture and historic architecture.
With tax-payer dollars funding less than 5% of the association’s budget, Shanna understands how to provide the community with a valuable service that historically has been under-resourced. Her work has not only doubled the reach of programming but has increased the number of events from three per year to three per month.
Committed to Grand County, Shanna is actively involved in the community in a variety of roles. With a passion for advocating for victims of crime and abuse, she is commissioner for the 14th Judicial District Review Commission and is a board member for the district’s victim services program. Shanna also sits on the board for the Granby Public Art Committee, serves as president of the Fraser Valley Lacrosse Club and has been volunteering at Fraser Elementary since 2013 where she still participates in the Read Naturally program twice a week.
In 2007, Shanna gave birth to her first child, Simon. After separating from her partner who was struggling with addiction, she found herself a single mother working multiple jobs to make ends meet and in need of affordable community housing. Shanna remained resilient and earned her master’s degree a month before the birth of her second son, Will in 2017. That experience is what Shanna wants to bring to our Board of County Commissioners.
Today, Shanna enjoys everything Grand County has to offer with her husband Tom and two boys including spending time on skis, bikes, hiking with their dog Birdie, and the Colorado River.
